Below are slideshow samples of our Grand Canyon tours to Grand Canyon National Park. We've made a few slideshows to give you an example of what our tours are like! We see some absolutely stunning scenery while walking along the upper rim trail. I've made over 700 trips to the Grand Canyon and can assure you that I've never seen two days alike!
Each photograph in the slideshows below were taken during our walking and sunset tours. You just never know what you are going to see and experience at the Grand Canyon so make sure that you have your camera ready to point and shoot!
Make sure to pack your camera cards and batteries!
...BEHIND THE SCENES: A Grand Canyon Tour
The musical score in this slideshow is from the hit movie staring Tom Hanks called "Road to Perdition". The composer is Thomas Newman. We came across the music by accident but think a lot of times most good things do come by accident.
There are over 4,000 pictures from our first summer doing Grand Canyon tours. You can imagine how hard it was trying to pick out 40 or so to make this slide show. Our friends are shocked that the pictures turned out so well but the truth is it's really hard to take bad pictures at the Grand Canyon. Plus, technology is wonderful - just point and click!
...FOR JULIE HARRIS: Life Begins Where The Sky Ends
The music score is "Book of Days" by Enya. If we write our lives one page at a time then we'll end up with a book of days. This is one page in Julie Harris' "Book of Days".
Julie came to Las Vegas with her kids and took our Grand Canyon tour on July 2, 2005. Sadly, she slipped into a diabetic coma on July 11, 2005 and never recovered. Her mother wrote saying how much the slideshow meant to them. I'm glad that I took so man pictures and that it's a lasting tribute to her.
...TTHE PERRYS: The Hosts Among Us
The music score is "Dreams" by the Cranberrys. We felt that this song was very appropriate for the Perrys. They were from Bolivia, spoke very little English, and had tremendously fun energy. We had to keep reminding them that they were on a Grand Canyon tour with us. They kept trying to cater to us but it's because of this kindness that we remember them so much.
We had a wonderful trip. It rained but to be honest that is the best time to visit the Grand Canyon. The rain passes over quickly and the result is one of the most stunning scenes you'll ever see in your life.
...TAMMI WARRINGTON: Exploring America
The music score is from the hit movie "Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron" and called "Homeland". The composer is Hans Zimmer. Tammi went on our very first Grand Canyon Sunset Tour with three other people. By chance, it was second most scenic sunset at Grand Canyon National Park that summer.
We've always remembered Tammi because of her free spirit. She was on the last leg of her one year journey to explore America. We felt the song was very appropriate since Tammi was such a free spirit and was making her journey across America. She ended up seeing a very beautiful sunset.
...THE MACOMBS: A Grand Canyon Sunset
The music score is called "Storms of Africa" by Enya (we know, we know). We didn't have a very large music library that enhanced the mood of the slideshows at this time. Anyway, It stormed on their trip and we almost left. However, we perservered and were treated to the most stunning sunset Grand Canyon National Park has seen in five years. We did not "doctor" the photos of the sunset. I admit we tried but it ruined the natural beauty of this sunset.
Sharon Macomb came to Vegas with two friends and were having a heck of a time. I know they'll never forget this sunset.
...ALENA'S TIME: A New Grand Canyon Tour
The music score is called "Bad Day" by Daniel Powter and it turned out to be a "bad" day in the sense that we had a lot of fun. It had been over a month since any of the tour guides had gone to the Grand Canyon so we all had the itch to go. Alena had called and wanted to go on a tour with us. We normally don't do tours between December 15th and February 1st. She was so nice that we couldn't resist and decided to "scratch our itch" while taking Alena on a tour.
We ended up working out a route that we will most likely implement for senior travelers who don't want to do the walking tour.
....WHY THEY FIGHT: A Tribute to America's Finest
I learned how to do slideshows when I was in the Army. A wiley, smart, young private I was....and laughed at some friends who got assigned some extra duties. That chuckle earned me the right to be our official platoon photographer. They also gave me a big bonus. I got to do 10 pushups for every bad picture that I took. Of course, they were the judges of that so I did a lot of pushups because every one of them was "bad".
I donated this slideshow to my friends at www.anysoldier.com Nobody likes war but I think everyone agrees that our men and women in uniform are some of the most decent people you'll ever meet.
